Helping Patients Find Affordable Healthcare

With over 53 million Americans without health insurance and an additional 100 million without dental insurance, there is an obvious need to help those who cannot afford it gain access to the healthcare they need. The founders of PriceDoc.com recognized the fact that millions of Americans, whether uninsured, underinsured or just seeking elective procedures, were not able to go online to shop for healthcare procedures or services.

This spawned the idea to create PriceDoc.com, where cash paying consumers can shop for, compare and purchase affordable medical and dental procedures from qualified providers in their area.

The PriceDoc executive team consists of seasoned veterans from the Medical, Financial and Web Technology fields.

PriceDoc chose Seattle and the greater Puget Sound region for its pilot program because of the favorable demographics and e-commerce savvy consumers. Currently PriceDoc has a sales and marketing team of seven people working to populate PriceDoc.com with providers. PriceDoc’s network includes hundreds of providers and is growing every day.

New Website Helps Families Find Better Healthcare at a Better Price

PriceDoc.com is a free website that lets cash-paying patients shop and compare prices for medical, dental and elective procedures

Seattle, WA – With an estimated 700,000 people without health insurance in Washington, and another 1.4 million without dental insurance, finding affordable healthcare can be difficult when the need arises. Many who do have health insurance find that vision, dentistry, cosmetic, or preventative procedures are not covered, causing them to pay out of pocket.

A new website however, offers patients an opportunity to find the care they need at the right price.

PriceDoc (www.pricedoc.com) brings cash-paying patients together with healthcare providers who offer the services they need. PriceDoc is similar to web pages that help travelers find the best deals, but is the first to connect the vast market of cash-paying patients to providers. Many of the uninsured are young adults and middle-class families who cannot afford healthcare. These groups still need medical and dental treatment, but may prefer to pay cash for the services.

“PriceDoc is a win-win solution for physicians and patients,” says Glenn Safadago, CMO of PriceDoc. “PriceDoc helps patients who have avoided care because of the cost, find a qualified provider that’s right for them at an affordable price. Providers save money by eliminating payment delays from insurance companies and improves their cash flow by introducing new, cash-paying patients.”

A powerful option on the PriceDoc website is the “Name Your Price” feature. If the patient is not able to find a price within their budget, he or she is then able to post the price that they can afford. PriceDoc then searches for a provider that will accept their offered price and notifies the consumer instantly.

Patients can compare the credentials, services and prices of nearly 300 local area doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals.

PriceDoc also helps those seeking elective procedures, those with health savings accounts or high-deductible health insurance, find affordable care.

The Puget Sound area is the first region where PriceDoc is being offered, with planned expansion to California in 2010.

“It’s only natural that we launch PriceDoc in Seattle,” says Safadago. “Seattle is the leading city in the United States for e-commerce, software and Internet technology with companies such as Amazon and Microsoft. Historically, Seattle has been the testing ground for many innovative web based and medical technology companies. It is the perfect place to launch a product that helps make healthcare affordable to as many Americans as possible.”
