Post image for Unhealthy Fridge Items

How healthy is your fridge? Of course that takeout order of fettucine alfredo is unhealthy but what about those products which you purchase at the grocery store?

According to WebMD.com, there are quite a few products that have sneakily adding in extra calories, sodium, fat and sugar into your diet. Here is a list complied by a doctor:

1. Mayo: regular mayonnaise isn’t that terrible if it is used in the amount of a teaspoon or two but it gets to be unhealthy when people slather it on. Check out the new olive oil mayo which cuts half the calories and has no trans fat or saturated fats. To avoid mayo completely use mustard or salsa.

This Bayer product has health advocates saying their birth control puts women at a more dangerous chance of developing these health problems than other birth control companies.

Post image for Study Shows No Connection Between Stress and Stroke

It seems like most people associate the word ‘stroke’ with stress; however, even though this is a common belief, a new study shows that there is no evidence that high stress events can trigger a stroke, reports Reuters. In the study, researchers examined the relationship between “stressful life events and the risk of a subarachnoid hemorrhage, where a ruptured blood vessel causes bleeding into the space surrounding the brain,” states Reuters.

Post image for You Can Have a Stroke and Not Even Know It

Symptoms from a minor stroke include trouble speaking, vertigo, balance problems, and temporary weakness or numbness of an arm or leg, reports HealthDay.com.

Post image for Eat Chocolate to Lower Your Blood Pressure

According to a report from German researchers, eating chocolate is a good way to control your blood pressure and protect your heart. Unfortunately, the amount of chocolate that proved to be beneficial was only 7.5 grams a day, which is “barely a nibble from a typical Hershey bar,” reports Kristina Fiore from MedPage Today. However, eating that little 7.5 grams of chocolate a day significantly lowered people’s blood pressure.

In a study of 20,000 people, those who ate the most chocolate had a 39 percent lower risk of the combined outcome of heart attack and stroke.
