Last Wednesday a bill was passed “to strengthen and streamline the federal government’s oversight of the country’s electronic infrastructure, including health IT systems, CongressDaily reports.”
It’s great that they want to step up security, but it seems strange to pass a bill when they haven’t developed the plan yet…

A few weeks ago I went to my dentist. His entire office is without an internet connection.
I was glad I had my blackberry because, quite normally (I thought), I needed to access the ‘net to fill in some of the information they required… When I asked why they didn’t take their business online the response was simple: security.
While they might be an extreme example at security, it turns out that many healthcare organizations are not on track to meet the security standards in line with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act…
