Schools have been making a huge effort to keep their students from becoming obese. Banning sweets, issuing report cards, offering healthier options at lunch. Thankfully the First Lady has dedicated herself to changing our youth and helping kids learn more about how important physical activity and eating healthy are.

According to NYTimes.com, this help might be too late, obesity issues can start way before grade school even starts. Evidence continues to prove that while a fetus is in the womb they can start a path towards obesity.

Maternity wards have come light-years from the 1960s. You not only are allowed wi-fi but massage therapists, whirlpool tubs and a portrait photographer. Medical centers now focus on creating a birthing plan with the mother, some mothers prefer to have a water birth when other moms prefer a regular birth.

Some mothers prefer having a doula present or a female doctor vs. a male doctor.

Healthy Moms, a company dedicated to promoting successful health and wellness programs to new expectant moms, has classes for women before, during and after pregnancy.

Getting back to the mom’s prior healthy shape can be difficult but luckily neighbors are willing to help each other out. Most mom’s want to attack those spots that are affected the most after having a baby; thighs and their tummy’s. In Raleigh, NC in an area known as the Triangle, moms and their babies show up stroller in tow for a power strolling session. This way the mom’s can exercise, get their kiddos out in the fresh open air and have a chance to have some girl chat.
