Are you shy? This personality trait may not be solely based to your upbringing. A recent study, conducted by researchers at Stony Brook University in New York, and Southwest University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has found that introverted people may be born with a trait that causes inhibited tendencies.
About 20% of people are born with a personality trait called sensory perception sensitivity (SPS) that can cause people to have neuroticism. The new results show that these highly sensitive individuals also pay more attention to detail, and have more activity in certain regions of their brains when trying to process visual information than those who are not classified as highly sensitive.

Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham have shown that increasing the amount of fat in the first meal of the day may prevent metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a name for a group of risk factors that occur together and increase the risk for coronary artery disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. The symptom of metabolic syndrome is central or abdominal obesity.

Worried your baby has autism? New research by Emory University and Georgia Tech shows that a test can be done, by the parents of a potential autistic child, in just five minutes.
Rapid Attention Back and Forth Communication Test (Rapid ABC) is the new test which can engage a child through simple activities testing attention-span, communication and recognition skills. This test is certainly not meant to replace the original test created by the, American Academy of Pediatrics (the test takes about two hours) but, helps identifying those children who may be at risk earlier in their life to get started on therapy, if needed.

Do you remember how your mother delivered you when you were born? Most babies a generation ago were born via vaginal delivery, unless there was a major problem. Today that is completely different, in 2007 32% of the babies born were delivered by Cesarean section which is the country’s highest rate ever.
