Post image for Obama Still Determined to Reform Nation’s Health Care System

Wednesday night President Obama announced that he’s still determined to reform the nation’s health care system, despite the several setbacks he has faced. When addressing the health care reform issue in his State of the Union address, Obama “urged lawmakers to continue working towards expanding coverage to the uninsured and overhauling the way the U.S. health insurance companies do business,” reports Chris Rizo from Legal Newsline.

Post image for Bachmann Releases 10-Point Manifesto for New Health Care Reform Plan

A 10-point manifesto entitled “Declaration of Health Care Independence” was released Wednesday by Rep. Michele Bachmann and a crew of conservative House members. This document contains 10 ideas that Bachmann thinks should be the foundation for an effective health care reform that brings affordable health care to all and controls costs. Larry Bivins from the SC Times states that, “The group said the Republican victory in last week’s Massachusetts Senate race was a clear signal that Americans are disgruntled over the health care proposals pushed by House and Senate Democrats.”

Post image for What Obama Should Do Next to Save Health Care Reform

Many political commentators have already proclaimed that health care reform is no more due to Republican Scott Brown’s win in Massachusetts. However, it may be too soon to officially state the bill as being completely done. Douglas E. Schoen of NY Daily News states that, “What Massachusetts voters told us is that they have no appetite for partisan reform. In other words, lawmakers can still pass substantive legislation that improves America’s health care system so long as their effort is bipartisan.”
