What kid doesn’t like candy? Not many. Research has recently found that children who have an ‘extra’ sweet tooth may be at risk for depression or alcohol problems as an adult. Reports have pointed to particular kids who are interested in sugary treats more than normal – they might become an addict one day. Apparently, these same kids usually have a family member who has an alcohol problem or depression issues. What isn’t clear is whether or not the attraction to sweetness is because of a chemical difference or their upbringing. Researchers report that sweet taste-buds and alcohol ignite several of the same reward circuits in the brain.

Being healthy starts as early as the womb – the mother must practice healthy eating habits in order to jump start her babies life in a healthy way. Once the baby is born, it will quickly adapt to the eating habits in the home in which they are raised. In the beginning of a child’s life their nutritional values are obviously dependent on their parents.
After the child grows into a ‘tween’ they are starting to take responsibility for their own food choices. This is when a young teen can start to gain weight or become underweight without the parents involvement. At this point, what the parent chooses to say is crucial.

Michael Milchovich from The Baltimore Sun says, “With all the talk from members of Congress about the federal budget deficit, I would think they would be just as concerned about the budget deficits of middle class families across the country.” Milchovich says the growing costs of healthcare are very much responsible for millions of American families being in debt, and also has led to many of those families being bankrupt. Milchovich says, “No one in a nation as wealthy and powerful as ours should be punished for getting sick.”

Thanksgiving is over…now what? Here are five easy steps to help regain your shape.
1. Clean your kitchen. Make sure no unhealthy foods (like highly processed chips and sweets) have crept back into the cupboards over the holiday. Take a trip to the grocery store to replenish your healthy snacks, such as reduced-fat cheese, fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
2. Return to Phase 1. If you really overindulged, you may have to go back to start at ground zero to eliminate cravings.
3. Move it. Getting regular and consistent exercise — a minimum of 20 minutes of cardio interval training or core exercises most days of the week — is an important element of any healthy lifestyle. In the busy weeks ahead, remember that some exercise is better than none.

A new study suggests that infants cries are directly influence by the language their parents speak.
WebMD reports, “It’s well known by experts that parental voices, especially a mother’s, are perceived in utero and memorized, as are other sounds, such as simple musical melodies, says Kathleen Wermke, PhD, a medical anthropologist at the University of Wurzburg in Wurzburg, Germany, and a researcher of the study.”
