Post image for Is Drinking Tea Good or Bad for Your Teeth?

According to WorlDental.org, several studies have suggested that drinking tea is a good way to keep your teeth clean because it attacks harmful bacteria in the mouth that can cause gum disease and cavities. However, other studies contradict this belief, and say tea has the opposite effect on teeth and can actually damage the teeth by eroding the enamel.

Post image for What You Need to Know About Tooth Decay

It’s very important to take proper care of your mouth because without proper oral hygiene, dental caries can form. Dental caries are due to consuming a lot of sweets, drinks and foods that are high in sugar. Dental caries or tooth decay is caused from untreated cavities that “spread from the tooth enamel, which is the outer most layer of the tooth, into the softer dentin,” reports WorlDental.org.

Tooth decay is very common among children and young adults, but can be found in all age groups, and is caused by “sticky deposits called plaque that collects, in particular, around the gum line, the edges of fillings and the grooved surfaces of teeth,” states WorlDental.org.

Post image for E. Coli Found in Soda Fountains

Be cautious when filling up your cup with a refreshing soft drink because researchers found several soda fountain machines in Virginia containing coliform bacteria. Almost half of the 90 drinks from the machines contained the bacteria that could possibly indicate fecal contamination. Several of the soda drinks from the machines fell short in passing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s drinking-water regulations, which states that all beverage samples test negative for E. coli.

Post image for Drunk? Caffeine Won’t Sober You Up

Just because you’ve had a few cups of coffee after a night of boozing doesn’t mean you are sober enough to get behind the wheel. Many people are under the impression that caffeine can lessen the effects of alcohol; however, a new study has discredited this idea. Jean Bidlack states that, “Alcohol and coffee are not a good mix.”

The results of this study are focused on younger people who consume caffeinated alcoholic drinks. These drinks can be very dangerous because the caffeine can lead people to drink more, and also lead them to believe they are not as drunk as they truly are.
