Post image for Cool, Cruel Summer

Big plans this summer? While you are enjoying the summer, there are many things to watch out for.

According to WebMD.com, there are several dangers that peek out their heads during summer months more than other months.

* STING. The sting of a jellyfish is no skip in the park. If you do get bitten try to find a lifeguard who can put a special medication on the sting, if you can’t find the lifeguard, use vinegar, soda, urine or salt water to help.
* STING. If you are stung by a stingray it was probably caused by accidentally stepping on a stingray. Seek immediate medical care, immerse in hot water to remove the stingers, scrub with soap and water and apply any pressure to stop bleeding.

Do you always remember to put sunscreen on before you step out the door? As summer continues, the heat is becoming hard to handle… especially the sun. Our skin is so sensitive to the sun’s rays that even 30 minutes without sunscreen can cause our skin to burn.

According to Health.com, our skin burns as a defense mechanism, to fight against the harmful UV rays that the sun gives off. And apparently the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has issued a report on the safety of different sunscreens.

We all strive to look our best…most of the time. But when you have an ugly, oozing zit on your chin it is hard to feel confident in yourself.

DailyGlow.Com has provided seven tips which can help get rid of your embarrassing blemishes forever:

1. You Are What You Eat- if you eat greasy, fattening foods your skin will react accordingly. However, if you emphasize your diet on fruits, veggies and protein your face will magically clear up. Consider adding foods rich in selenium or zinc like pumpkin seeds and Brazil nuts.
2. Drink That Water- eight glasses per day will keep your skin hydrated and flush out bad toxins clouding the body
3. Probiotics Are Key- healthy bacteria keeps your immune system strong and prevents toxins from getting into your skin. Try eating bananas, artichokes, onions or yogurt.

Post image for “Bo-Tax” Just Turned to a Dark Tax Tan

Plastic Surgeons and dermatologists are letting out a huge sigh of relief since the tax on elective cosmetic surgery, also known as the “bo-tax,” has been dismissed. The new tax that is proposed in the health care bill will be on indoor tanning services.

NYTimes.com reported that the 10% tax on “fake” tanning services will go into effect in July 2010 which means any indoor tanning services provider must add that additional tax onto their services. By 2020 this new tax will have raised close to $3 billion, this money will go to help millions of Americans obtain health insurance.
