Two types of baby slings made by Infantino, a San Diego, California-based company, have been recalled due to several parents reporting that the baby slings were responsible for their infants’ death. Fourteen deaths have been connected to these sling-style carriers, and three of these deaths “appeared to occur in one of Infantino’s slings,” reports Eliott C. McLaughlin from CNN. Due to several deaths being linked to these baby slings, about 1 million of the slings were recalled in the U.S.

A new study shows that children who are exposed to secondhand smoke have a higher chance of having emphysema as adults. Gina S. Lovasi, PhD, states that, “Structural and quantitative indices of emphysema differed significantly on CT lung scans of adults with a childhood history of secondhand smoke exposure compared with those with a negative exposure history.”
