Electric nerve stimulation has shown to be unsuccessful in helping people with chronic lower back pain. CNN Health reports that, “Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation, or TENS, is delivered using a small battery-operated generator connected to a set of electrodes. The generator, about the size of a BlackBerry, transmits a weak electric current through the electrodes, which are attached to the skin at the site of chronic pain or at other key points.”

A preliminary study has shown that texting can cause neck and shoulder pain.
Judith Gold, ScD presented evidence “suggesting that the more college students texted, the more pain they reported in their necks and shoulders.” Gold also reported that people age’s 18-21 favor texting over phone calls and email. With this conclusion, it is possible that young people are in danger of overuse injuries, similar to typing on a computer for several years.
