A new study shows that leptin, a hormone that manages appetite, may protect you from Alzheimer’s disease. This study was performed because there was some information that linked the risk of Alzheimer’s disease to body weight.

The animal studies done on the issue are what revealed to researchers that leptin had a positive effect on the hippocampus, a part of the brain that is involved with the important aspects of memory. After seeing this, researchers started their examining of humans to see if the effect was the same.
