When my dentist first told me I was missing my lateral incisor, thrilled was definitely not the emotion I was feeling. After he determined that I was only missing one of my lateral incisors, the next step was discussing what our plan of action was going to be. I had the option of just pulling my teeth together, or separating them to make room for a dental implant to replace my missing lateral incisor. For symmetry reasons, option B sounded like the better choice. So after several years of braces, my teeth were separated and I was left with a space to place the implant.
