Has your skin seen too much sun lately? There are several different kinds of conditions that can transpire from overexposure to sunlight.

According to the DetroitFreePress.com, too much sunlight can lead to different types of skin irritations including:

  1. Heat rash: usually caused by sweating profusely in the humid heat. Treat by keeping the affected area dry, use baby powder or anti-fungal spray which will help lessen the pain. Try wearing cotton when outside which will help your skin to breathe easier.
  2. Heat exhaustion. This happens from too much exposure to sunlight plus being dehydrated. You might feel flu-like symptoms, bad headache, chills or a weak pulse. Drink A LOT of water, rest in a cool area, stay out of the sun before this turns to a deadly heat stroke.
  3. Heat stroke: happens rather quickly if you ignore the symptoms, your body will be unable to cool off, your body temperature rises… the heat is too much to keep your organs functioning properly. The big sign is if you stop sweating, if that happens, your body is telling you that it is in trouble and your organs are shutting down. Call 911 immediately if you think you or someone else has heat stroke, drink Gatorade to help with hydration and replacing electrolytes that are lost through sweating.

Worried about your skin’s exposure to the sun? Compare prices for a trip to the dermatologist, near your home.
