How often do you eat meat? Did you know that meat producers inject antibiotics in order to make sure the animal is healthy? Well did you also know that meat producers have been abusing this by injecting even more antibiotics into the animals to increase production and promote growth?

According to ChicacgoTribune.com, the Food and Drug Administration has asked meat producers to cease addition of these antibiotics to increase production or help promote growth. This comes as a concern that people might have become resistant to antibiotics because they have been used so much in meat lately.

“The development of resistance to this important class of drugs, and the resulting loss of their effectiveness as antimicrobial therapies, poses a serious public health threat,” the FDA said in a draft guidance statement.
