According to iHealthBeat, user generated content on the internet is no longer limited to shopping for consumer products or looking  at restaurant reviews; consumers are increasingly using sites like WebMD as well as user forums and rankings of hospitals and doctors before making that first doctor’s visit.

And why not? After all, the word of the people is usually the best way to go and often more in the interest of the consumer than solely obtaining your information from the organization providing the service.

Though there are plenty of examples of the internet gaining ground and becoming one of the top sources of healthcare and physician related info, doctors themselves are still the biggest influence on a consumer’s behavior, according to Monique Levy, Senior Director of Research at Manhattan Research.

Here’s a list of local doctors in your area.
