Are you on a diet? Thankfully, people are starting to take their health more seriously, focusing more on eating nutritiously and incorporating physical activities into their daily routine.

According to Shape.com, there are some last resort diet tricks to help shed that last 3-5 pounds:

  1. Lose belly fat by eating more fiber. Fiber soaks up water and stimulates the digestive system to contract and push waster through faster.
  2. Include healthy bacteria in your diet. Yogurt or kefir have probiotics that can help you lose weight.
  3. Pump up the vitamin C. Vitamin C helps utilize your fat for energy, which makes your fat burn rather than using your muscle mass.
  4. Trade in carbs for spinach. This gorgeous green has only 41 calories per cup and is rich in antioxidants much better option than brown rice or whole wheat pasta which has five times more calories per cup.
  5. Burn the fat! Capsaicin is a natural substance contained in peppers which give them their heat. This will help burn more calories than usual.
  6. Eat dessert!! Using fruit that is. Fresh pineapple or papaya help ease digestion and break down proteins that way food can move through your system more quickly and decreases bloating.
  7. Mmmm avocado! Avocados are rich in potassium which can help you lose that pooch in your tummy.
  8. Take a break from the booze. Giving it up forever may not be realistic, but going alcohol-free for a month or so will give you the chance to see how you feel without it. It will help with weight-loss, your sleep, and affects your appetite.
  9. Caffeine break @ 8:30 A.M. Timing your caffeine breaks 30 minutes before you work out will help you work harder and push yourself longer.
  10. Less sugar intake. Natural sugars in fruits and milk usually have fiber, antioxidants and protein in them as well. But refined sugars can get your body out of whack. Read nutrition labels and cut back on high sugar foods.

“Studies show that eating the amount of capsaicin found in one small chili pepper at meals may boost metabolism by 23 percent in the short term,” says Julie Upton, M.S., R.D., co-author of Energy to Burn.
