Many things can cause staining or discoloration of teeth, such as smoking tobacco, red wine, coffee, genetics, and aging; however, if you are unhappy with the color of your teeth, there are some solutions. One solution is Zoom whitening, a procedure “used to lighten discolored enamel and dentin,” reports Ionad.com.
According to Ionad.com, “The in-office Zoom tooth whitening procedure involves the use of Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp, which speeds up the bleaching process in order to activate the hydrogen peroxide (25%) whitening active agent.” And in result, the hydrogen peroxide is broken down and oxygen spreads throughout the dentin and enamel to whiten the discolored areas. The process takes less than an hour.
The dentist applies the Zoom hydrogen peroxide gel on your teeth. The Zoom hydrogen peroxide gel “works alongside with the Zoom light to permeate the teeth and sever the discoloration and stains,” reports Ionad.com. The gel stays on the teeth for about 15 minutes while the light is activated, and this is done for three sessions.
After the procedure, you need to make use of the Zoom at-home kit to maintain your whiter teeth. In the kit there are whitening trays and your dentist should inform you on how to “go about the maintenance in order to retain the whiteness of the teeth,” states Ionad.com.
