What does your child typically eat at lunch? If your child eats their lunch at school are you aware of what exactly they are eating? Jamie Oliver, an English chef from London has made a goal to change the way Americans eat. He is starting with the public schools. In Hungtington, WV, he discovered that french fries are considered a vegetable!!!?? This should shock you mothers out there!

According to HealthKey.Com, Jamie began his venture in Huntington, West Virgina at an elementary school while attempting to change these kids diets. Sadly, young children eat more processed food (chicken nuggets, pizza, french fries, etc.) now than ever before. Did you know that chicken nuggets are the least desirable and least nutritious part of the chicken? To top that off, they include ground up bones – YUCK!

As Jamie visited elementary classes he found that most kids in 2nd grade didn’t know what fresh food was! This should spike some interest in people about what our government has deemed appropriate for cafeterias across the nation. If we continue to feed our children processed, zero-nutrition, “french fries = vegetables” kind of food then we are doomed. First Lady Obama took her own oath of attacking the gigantic obesity problem in our youth too.

Jamie plans to take his evidence and plan to the White House to make some major changes in public schools. In early March 50,000 people had signed his petition that demands change in school’s food for our children. After being programed to feed our kids fast, easy and cheap food…these results show in their health. Fast, cheap and easy is not necessarily nutritious. The schools cannot take all the blame either… these kids who had no clue what a tomato was didn’t learn nutrition or healthy eating at home either.

“This is the true cost of feeding your children,” Jamie Oliver said. “You’ve been living in a fallacy for the last 30 years. Of course when you reheat and regenerate pre-portioned and pre-prepared processed rubbish, of course its cheaper and easier. It’s airplane food. So under the circumstances, our numbers are coming out really good.”
