Ever met someone who eats nachos, candy, hamburgers, and drinks soda all in one day and weighs no more than 120 pounds? Unfortunately, a huge percentage of us do not work that way. Why? One word… metabolism.
Slow metabolism can be caused from genes, but it’s also because of the choices you make. When you confuse your system with yo-yo diets, eat processed food, and surround yourself with toxins – then no, you’re not going to lose weight.
According to the much loved Biggest Loser trainer, Jillian Michaels, there are a few ways you can turn your metabolism around:
- Get off that couch! Quit being lazy, don’t blame your weight on your slow metabolism.
- Stop those crazy diets. Your weight has been dramatically fluctuating over the years and it’s time for that to end. Stay on a regime that’s easy to stick to.
- Quit eating processed crap. Your body has no clue how to digest frozen meals, hot dogs or candy bars. Stick to the real food! Fruit, vegetables, fish and chicken.
- Time to start eating organic. Did you know that pesticides, aka chemicals, are being sprayed all over your food to make it grow faster? Organic foods have been left alone and are the way Mother Earth intended them to be.
- Limit your exposure to toxic chemicals. There are over 100,000 chemicals surrounding you in your everyday household. Search for household products that are chemical free like, Seventh Generation.
- Lay off all that anti-bacterial! Ever heard of helping your immune system? If you never let your body get used to some bacteria then you end up killing the good bacteria and making your immune system even weaker.
- Cease the stress. Stress= kryptonite for hormones. Try going to yoga, sleeping extra hours or taking a calming bath.
- No more prescription drugs! If you keep pumping your body with drugs, how will it every perform normally? Try looking up natural remedies for your ails.
- STOP SMOKING! I’m sorry I can’t say it any nicer. How can you ignore all the medical research on how terrible nicotine is for your body? Smoking will damage every cell in your body.
Now start taking control of your life! Create a healthy environment, a healthy diet and start living a healthy lifestyle. Need help from a nutritionist? Find one near your home.
