A lot of people absolutely dread going to the dentist and will come up with just about any excuse to avoid going. Some people experience extreme anxiety before their dentist visits, but according to a new study, individuals can “seek alternative health resources such as acupuncture to help calm their nerves before entering the dentist chair,” reports Donna Parker from BetterHealthResearch.com.
About 1 in 20 people experience extreme anxiety and fear before going to the dentist, and “researchers are hopeful that these new findings will help individuals seek treatment for problems again if their anxiety is calmed,” says Parker. Twenty people who experience extreme anxiety and fear before going to the dentist were examined five minutes before acupuncture and five minutes after. After acupuncture all of the patients were able to visit the dentist, and the average Back Anxiety Inventory levels decreased from 26. 5 to 11.5.
Do you suffer from anxiety when going to the dentist? Try getting acupuncture; find an acupuncturist in your area.
