It is easy to learn about symptoms of men having a heart attack, but like most everything in life, women and men are completely different… even when it comes to having a heart attack.

WebMD.com has provided the down low on warning signs for women when it comes to having a heart attack:

Women have atypical symptoms which can be arm pain, nausea or back pain…these things can easily be misconstrued as something entirely different and often misdiagnosed. Shortness of breath, weakness and unusual fatigue have also occurred in women during a heart attack.

“If the triage nurse or emergency room physician does not take their concerns seriously and begin the immediate evaluation for a heart attack, then all women should tell the emergency room physician they want to be seen by a cardiologist,” says Teresa Caulin-Glaser, MD, co-author of The Woman’s Heart: An Owner’s Guide, and director of preventive cardiology and research at McConnell Heart Health Center in Columbus, Ohio.

If women do have any of these symptoms we urge you to immediately call 911. Be bold when you arrive at the hospital… being stern about your needs could save your life.

Feeling these symptoms and want to get your ticker checked on? Find a cardiologist near your home. Learn how to have a happy heart!
