People run to strengthen their legs, do push-ups to strengthen their arms and eat healthy to strengthen their immune system…but what about strengthening your brain?

Dallas Morning News has provided a few ways to help strengthen your brain and prevent contracting Alzheimer’s.

  • Stimulate your brain, change up your routine weekly or monthly to keep your brain from getting into a rut
  • Try being ambidextrous, use your weaker hand to brush your hair, brush your teeth and moving the mouse when on your computer
  • Learn new vocabulary every day, practice these unfamiliar words in regular conversation
  • Become bi-lingual, learn a new language – Spanish is most common, but French or Italian would be interesting too
  • Let your brain play- especially doing what you don’t particularly like will stimulate it. Scrabble, crossword puzzles, time tables, Sudoku, etc.
