Children’s ears are being subject to ridiculously loud noises everyday. Cars, lawn-mowers, sirens, etc. A baby’s hearing grows at a slow pace as they age, it is as sensitive as the rest of the baby’s body.

According to NYTimes.Com, with all of the extreme noises in the world a baby’s hearing needs to be protected. Hearing specialists say that safeguards are critical for young ears in a world with deafening sounds. Hearing loss is cumulative and irreversible when babies are exposed to loud noises.

Many people remember after the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl, quarterback, Drew Brees, held up his baby boy donning protective ear muffs.

“If a child attends only one loud sporting event, it isn’t a big deal. But for those kids who will be going to football games throughout their lives, as Drew Brees’s kids will, it’s a very big deal. A young, tender ear may not be able to withstand damage,” says Brian Fligor, director of diagnostic audiology at Children’s Hospital Boston.

Find a pair of protective ear muffs for your child. Need a pediatrician? Find one near your home.
