Michael Milchovich from The Baltimore Sun says, “With all the talk from members of Congress about the federal budget deficit, I would think they would be just as concerned about the budget deficits of middle class families across the country.” Milchovich says the growing cost of healthcare is very much responsible for millions of American families being in debt, and also has led to many of those families being bankrupt. Milchovich says, “No one in a nation as wealthy and powerful as ours should be punished for getting sick.”

Milchovich reports that a new study has shown that healthcare spending rose to an estimated $2.5 trillion last year, which is about $8, 047 per person. These costs are predicted to keep rising, which makes you wonder how are small business owners supposed to provide healthcare benefits to their employees when costs just keep rising? According to Milchovich, “These small businesses are essential to our economy. How can they hire more workers when they can’t provide the benefit many of us enjoy as working Americans?”

He says that this is not a problem we can just push under the rug and forget about for a few years; “it’s time for the elected officials in Washington to set aside their differences and get this thing done. Both liberals and conservatives alike. I stand with President Obama in calling on Congress to finish the job.”

Do you agree with Milchovich?
