Unfortunately, when a woman gets a face-lift it does not stop them from aging. More often than not a patient that is happy with their new face will still get a re-do face-lift 10 or so years later. Some may argue, but getting plastic surgery is a lot like getting tattoos or piercings…once you get hooked you keep going back for more.
Some people are never going to be pleased with their cosmetic surgeries because they are hoping for perfection…which is impossible. Today, there are tons of people electing for plastic surgery that are unhappy with their results. These same people are a target for secondary surgeries. According to NYTimes.com, even though our economy is still quite low and even though cosmetic surgery is down, revisions for dissatisfied patients are still in demand. Reasons for dissatisfaction depend on each individual procedure. Rhinoplasty surgeries vary on the patient’s cartilage, the healing time-frame and the building materials.
“It’s a difficult operation with a lot of variables,” said Dr. James C. Grotting, the editor of the textbook “Re-operative Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery.” “So even in the best of hands, people who only do rhinoplasty,” he said, there is still “a revision rate of up to 20 percent.”
