People spend several hundred dollars a visit trying to keep their pearly whites looking like porcelain. Little did they know that there is a secret, inexpensive home whitening method known as malic acid which acts as an astringent to remove discoloration on teeth.

The combination of ripe strawberries and baking soda helps erase coffee, soda and/or wine stains.  This is not a replacement for having your teeth professionally whitened, but according to Dr. Adina Carrel, a dentist in private practice at Manhattan Dental Arts in New York, “this is a fast, cheap way to brighten your smile.”

Health.com provides directions for this whitening remedy:

Use one ripe strawberry and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda- mush strawberry, mix with baking soda until smooth. Apply with a soft toothbrush and spread ingredients onto your teeth. Leave on for 5 minutes, then brush with toothpaste to remove the mixture. Rinse. Carrel says application is safe once a week.

So if your high school reunion is coming up and you’re trying to save money but tired of those home teeth whitening strips try this natural remedy for helping keep your teeth white as snow.
