It’s a wonder why half of America will whiten their teeth at home rather than do the same thing at a dentist’s office with a professional. Although doing this simple procedure at home is inexpensive and convenient there can be some downfalls.
SeattleTimes.Com reported that:
- Repetition is key
- Over-the-counter teeth whitening products don’t work on veneers, caps, dentures, crowns or fillings
- Almost every tray is a one-size-fits-all that may not work on everyone
“If you follow the instructions and don’t go overboard, bleaching does not harm your teeth,” according to Terrence J. Thines, chief of division of dentistry at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.
But beware if you end up overdoing the bleach you can cause damage to your tooth’s root, permanent discoloration, damage the gums, and make your teeth extremely sensitive.
Decide you’d like to get your teeth whitened, find a dentist near your home.
