About a week ago, Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, expressed his dislike towards the health care bill because of how much the reform will cost the state of California. The National Center for Policy Analysis states that “he’s not alone,” and that many other states are not too fond of the health care bill either.

Many states are worried because of how the bill will financially affect them. The National Center for Policy Analysis stated four reasons why states are not too excited for the pending bill:

1. Costs

2. Compliance

3. Insurance Exchanges

4. Federal Aid

States will be forced to pay for part of the Medicaid expansion and have no choice but to comply to the new regulations. Under the senate version of the bill, states will be responsible for handling insurance exchanges, which is not an easy job. Federal aid will “be uneven at best,” and those states who make “more citizens eligible for the program will be “punished” by receiving less aid,” states The National Center for Policy Analysis.

What do you think about the extreme financial costs states will face due to the pending health-care reform?
