Winter season is a time of sharing, caring and the passing of old wives tales. A few MDs did some research to see if these myths were true or false.

Health.com provided the proof on these myths:

1) Turns out sugar does not make kids bounce off the walls

“A lot of occasions when kids are exposed to sugar are when they are most likely to be super excited, running around, and acting out,” says Dr. Aaron Carroll, MD, of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

2) Suicides do not take place more often in the winter- they actually happen more in warmer months

3) Poinsettias are not toxic- but don’t make a habit of eating them

4) You don’t lose most of your heat from your head- heat is lost equally throughout the body- so make sure you wear hat, gloves & boots when playing in the snow

5) Eating late in the P.M. does not cause weight gain

6) You cannot cure a hangover- but some detox remedies may help jolt your system with nutrients

Now that the records are straight you can have an informed holiday season to enjoy.
