Every year someone witnesses a turkey explode, falls off a roof putting up holiday lights or gets stitches in their hand from opening a gift. Take a minute to read about these holiday health hazards that should be avoided altogether this season.

Health.com discusses these hazards:

  1. Don’t gain Santa’s jelly belly this holiday season
  2. 3,000 people a day die of choking- don’t be one of them
  3. Keep your holly and mistletoe at bay- they are toxic
  4. Avoid deep frying the turkey- it’ll keep you from injury and losing your home
  5. Remember to “ooooh saaa” this holiday season and avoid a heart attack
  6. Don’t let your tree go up in flames- keep it watered and away from the fireplace
  7. Convince your kids to get help opening gifts and stay away from the ER
  8. Follow all proper safety guidelines when taking a road trip
  9. 33,000 injuries are caused each year by sledding- don’t let your kids be the next
  10. Don’t skip out on your zzz’s- it may lead to depression, weight gain or more stress
  11. Don’t become Mr. Griswald and join the 5,000 people a year that are injured yearly when putting up holiday lights

Now that you are a little more informed about what can happen during the holidays, you can bypass these hazards altogether.
