The Vicks Dayquil cold medicine was recalled due to the fact that the packaging isn’t childproof; an estimated 700,000 units of the medicine were recalled. CNN Health reported that, “The packaging — which is not child-resistant and lacks the statement, “This package for households without young children” — should be kept out of the reach of young children. If a child swallows several of the pills, the child could suffer “serious health problems or death,””

Luckily there haven’t been any reported incidents of children getting a hold of the medicine and injuring themselves. Also, for those who have purchased the medicine, the manufacturer is actually offering refunds and coupons.

If you are suffering from a cold, find a doctor near you who can help.
