Ever wonder why women wrinkle around the mouth more than men? A new study reveals that biology might be the cause. These wrinkles around the lips are referred to as “perioral wrinkles”, and women are not only more likely to get them, but they are also more likely to be deeper wrinkles that develop.

Researchers found many reasons as to why women wrinkle more, and WebMD has released their findings.

One researcher, Emma C. Paes, MD, states that, “The aim of this study is to obtain new insight into the perception that women wrinkle earlier and more severely than men…If we understood the reasons for differences in wrinkling between women and men, then we might be able to develop better strategies for the treatment of perioral wrinkles.”

If you’re looking to get rid of those wrinkles around the mouth, find a cosmetic surgeon in your area.
