Removing Saggy Chin Skin?

Have you ever wondered: “What is the procedure called regarding removing the saggy skin under the chin (due to age)?” Well, you are not alone… last week we received an email with that question in it and thought we would pass it along to a doctor who could answer it!

We bounced that question off our founder, Dr. Julian Henley, who is a plastic surgeon and here was his response:

“There are several procedures that address that excess skin under the chin.

The two most common and well established are the neck lift and submentoplasty
procedures. (Neck suspension is a user friendly description for
submentoplasty.)

For minimal laxity there are several none invasive technologies but their
efficacy and benefit is minimal, but observable.

When there is noticeable loose skin under the chin and upper part of
the neck an outpatient surgical procedure performed by a physician skilled
in that cosmetic area will be most effective. Keep in mind that minimally
invasive procedures (although they sound attractive) create minimal
results.”

Thank you Dr. Henley for your time and response!

Do you have a burning question that can only be answered by a professional? We have a network of doctors working with us, you have questions that could be answered by those doctors…

How it works:
You ask a question.
We invite doctors to answer those questions each month as we send out our newsletter.
Doctors answer those questions (hopefully!)
We turn those answers into a blog post.
Questions can be submitted here.
