Breast cancer survivors may want to stay away from alcohol due to the fact that it raises the risk of cancer returning. WebMD reports that, “cancer is 34% more likely to come back in breast cancer survivors who drink more than three drinks a week, compared with those who abstain or drink less.”

Not only does drinking more than three drinks a week raise the risk of cancer reoccurrence, but it also raises the risk of dying from breast cancer by 51%. Also, women with breast cancer who are postmenopausal or overweight tend to be more vulnerable to the effects of alcohol.

If you have any further questions or concerns about the effects of alcohol on the body, ask a doctor near you.
