Psoriasis is the term for a chronic, noncontagious immune condition that causes patchy scales to develop all over a person’s body… it affects about 5% of all Americans. The most common type of psoriasis is on the fingernails and toenails.

Thankfully, there are ways to control this deficiency from home including: keep nails trimmed short, wear gloves when working with your hands, wear shoes with plenty of space, avoid scrubbing or scraping beneath nails, use sensitive nail-cleaning tools, soak your nails in a tar bath mixed with oil and water (then apply nail moisturizer) and finally, consider using a nail strengthener to improve their durability. Taking good care of your nails can minimize the effects of psoriasis-associated nail challenges.

If you have a more serious psoriasis condition, find a doctor near you to help.
