Another benefit for moms who breastfeed is the lowered risk of diabetes. A new study shows that women have more protection from metabolic syndrome the longer they breast fed. “Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of risk factors linked to both diabetes and heart disease, including elevated blood pressure, insulin resistance, and belly fat,” reports WebMD.

This study was one of the most meticulous studies that has been performed in regards to examining the effects of breast feeding on metabolic syndrome. There was a reported 56% reduction in the risk of metabolic syndrome in women who breast fed for longer than 9 months.
