There is a proposal in the Senate to slap “a 5% excise tax on elective cosmetic procedures… that includes things like Botox injections, breast implants, tummy tucks, face lifts, liposuction, teeth whitening, eyelid repairs, etc.” reports Jack Cafferty from CNN. The tax would exclude restorative surgeries.
It would literally raise billions of dollars over a 10 year period and leaves companies and organizations in the industry in an uproar, although the original plan was to make it a 10% tax…
If this passes then that probably means the industry will just raise the prices, right?
Just in case you are trying to have some cosmetic surgery done before this gets voted on, search for doctors near you.

This proposed tax is directed not at the affluent individuals in our society, it is directed at the middle class woman who wants to look there best and be as productive as possible. Where will we draw the line? I hope I never need my galbladder removed and if I do, will that organ be taxed because it is a nonessential organ?
