Post image for Americans are still smoking

For years the number of smoking Americans was slowly declining, until 2008 that is. Roughly 20% of the population, or around 46 million people, consistently smoke, whether daily or every few days.

The plateau is attributed to economics, education, marketing, cultural factors and a lack of smoking bans in public places.

WebMD has the full report.

Being a previous smoker, I can commiserate with those who want to allow their patrons the chance to smoke indoors, but now I can also understand the desire to eat my dinner without being covered in smoke… but should workers at a construction site be banned from smoking?
