The real cure for depression and anxiety are:

1. Adequate vitamin D levels. Almost everyone is deficient, and is a major cause of depression. Around 3000 IU Vitamin D3 per day in the winter is about right.
2. 10-15 minutes of exercise per day. This alone has been proven more effective than antidepressants.
3. Omega 3 fats. Flaxseed oil is a great source of it.
4. Having a social network. Get lots of HUGS!! There is a ton of scientific support for the effects of hugs on well being.
5. Lower your standards. Don't expect perfection out of everything about you. You are imperfect--accept yourself the way you are.
6. Find your purpose in life, set goals, and work towards those goals. A purposeful life you work towards is a powerful depression killer.
6. Calcium, magnesium, b-complex vitamins can be helpful.
